Introduction

Technology Development and Innovation Centre (TDIC), which houses the BIRAC-BioNEST and DSIR-CRTDH-IITR hubs at CSIR-IITR, Lucknow, is a unique bio-incubation and translational research programme, supported by the institute's Centre for Innovation and Translational Research (CITAR). The centre intends to assist the development of the biotech entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing start-ups with a range of services, such as networking opportunities, access to communities and high-end instruments, as well as technical, marketing, and mentorship support. With the objective to offer researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs from academia and industry, MSMEs access to cutting-edge platform technologies and apprenticeship in a holistic inclusive setting, the incubation facility offers about 20,000 square feet of built-up incubation space.

Director’s Message

Dr Bhaskar Narayan

CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow, a multidisciplinary research institute with the motto Safety to Environment and Health and Service to Industry addresses problems critical to human health and environment. CSIR-IITR has Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Compliance Certification from NGCMA, Government of India, NABL accredited facilities for Biological and Chemical testing services. TDIC@CSIR-IITR extends support for translational research in niche areas of toxicology. These include the impact of industrial and environmental chemicals on human health and ecosystem, and environmental monitoring of pollutants in air, water and soil. There is a plethora of unexplored potential at TDIC@CSIR-IITR that may be leveraged to generate translational insights that finally result in deployable technological innovations. The potential for science may be exploited more swiftly through entrepreneurs/start-ups that can make the advances in science relevant and accessible for society. I'm sanguine that the TDIC initiative from the CSIR-IITR has each of the elements required for establishing an innovative translational biotech ecosystem in Lucknow. I felicitate the TDIC team at CSIR-IITR and all the connected businesses/startups for their tireless work and contributions, and I wish all the stakeholders’ success in their endeavours.
