Launch of Microplastics Project & Brainstorming Meeting of NETSCOFAN

BioNEST @ CSIR-IITR organised “Launch of Microplastics Project & Brainstorming Meeting of NETSCOFAN” under GAIN (Government Academia Industry Network) & CAiRES (Consultative Arrangement for Innovation in Research by Engaging Stakeholders) with objectives of development & validation of analytical - micro-/nano-plastics in foods matrices & Inter- and intra-laboratory comparison of developed methods in identified in foods matrices. Incubatee Engagement & Capacity Building

Networking and Mentoring Clinic Sessions

A mentoring session was organized by the BioNEST team with M/s Esniff Devices Private Limited, BRC Tower, 3rd Floor, Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar, U.P. online mode on 22th May, 2024. The discussion agenda of the meeting was to brief regarding the Intellectual Property Rights involved in the development of the product and addressing the concerns of the company regarding the sharing of IP of the co-developed product.

Lecture series on "Computational Chemistry Approaches for Diverse Industrial Applications

On May 24, 2024, the workshop "Computational Chemistry Approaches for Diverse Industrial Applications," held. During the discussion, it was emphasized that the computational toxicology facility has significantly contributed to various industrial sectors (India Pesticides Limited, NBI Biosciences, ASPL Ventures, Ultra International Limited, Sivakasi Fireworks and many more) by providing predictive biology, toxicity assessments, and safety evaluation solutions.

Workshop on “Incubating Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Cultivating a sustainable Start-up and Ecosystem” on 16-18th May, 2024

As part of National Technology Day celebrations, CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR) conducted a two-day workshop titled "Incubating Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Cultivating a Sustainable Start-up Ecosystem" in association with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology-Technology Business Incubator (KIIT TBI), Bhubaneshwar for empowering the entrepreneurs on 16th -18th May, 2024. The event witnessed the participation of 30 promising start-ups, 60 students, and faculties and featured distinguished speakers who shared their insights and expertise on fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship. The chief guest, Prof. Mrutyunjay Suar, CEO, KIIT-TBI, delivered an inspiring talk on transforming mindsets towards innovation-driven entrepreneurship. Prof. Suar emphasized embracing innovative approaches and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit to drive sustainable growth. Dr. Vinita Jindal, Chief Manager of IP and Technology Management at BIRAC, addressed the attendees, discussing the strategic management of intellectual property and its significance in protecting and commercializing innovative technologies. The technical sessions of the workshop commenced with Dr. Namrata Misra, CEO of BCKIC and Advisor at KIIT-TBI. Dr. Misra shared valuable tips and tricks for successful grant writing and pitching, offering practical insights to help start-ups secure essential funding and resources. Inauguration of 3D Bio-Printing Faculty (Ajna) at BioNEST, CSIR-IITR

A dedicated 3D Bioprinting Facility- Ajna was inaugurated on 23rd April, 2023 by Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Member NITI Aayog in the presence of Dr. N. Bhaskar, Director, CSIR-IITR at Technology Development and Innovation Centre (TDIC) @CSIR IITR. This facility promises start-ups, companies, MSMEs, and other stakeholders to develop as well as leverage human equivalent tissue models for assessing drug toxicity and screening.

One Day workshop on “Public Health Impacts of Landfill Sites – PHILS”

One-day Indo-UK brainstorming session conducted at TDIC. Technical and panel discussions covered the present scenario and future strategies to tackle the ever-increasing landfill sites on 4th April, 2024. A discussion with startups, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders in attendance was accomplished on way forward efforts to mitigate the environmental impact due to landfill sites. Shri Indrajeet Singh (IAS), Municipal Commissioner, Lucknow was the chief guest in attendance.

Inauguration of Technology Development and Innovation Centre (TDIC) at CSIR-IITR

The Technology Development and Innovation Centre (TDIC) was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Director General, CSIR and Secretary DSIR, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR on 14th August, 2023. The state-of-the-art facility was formally dedicated to the country specifically catering to the needs of start-ups/ companies/ industries and providing necessary intervention for the translational aspect of scientific research.

Two grant writing sessions for the 23rd BIG (Biotechnology Ignition Grant) call, a flagship programme of BIRAC, were conducted on 25thJuly and 27thJuly, 2023 by the team BioNEST that handholds and mentors the entire proposal writing process and mock presentation, and support the incubation of promising business ideas.

Mentoring clinics sessions with Incubatees

An online meeting was convened on 12th July, 2023, with M/s Bikalp Herbals Pvt. Ltd., an innovator and prospective incubatee, to handhold and mentor the BIG-2023 application. The primary objective of the session was to provide comprehensive insights and guidelines regarding the scheme to interested applicants. A requisite template presentation, along with relevant documents essential for the application process, was shared to facilitate applicants in preparing their submissions. Moreover, resourceful insights about the BIG-2023 scheme were delivered, aiming to enrich the understanding of the attendees and optimize their applications for the program.

NITI Aayog through its Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) selected Research and Information System (RIS) for undertaking an Evaluation Study of five Central Sector Schemes, which are being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). BioNEST @ CSIR-IITR was shortlisted as one of the sample project and subsequent visit and evaluation of the project by the team was done on 3rd July, 2023.

One-week National e-Workshop on Innovation and intellectual property rights (NeW IPR-2023)

One-week national e-workshop was organised by CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, India in June 12-17, 2023, aimed to foster professional skill enhancement initiatives in the realm of innovation and intellectual property rights. The workshop provided a platform for participants to deepen their understanding of intellectual property laws, explore innovative strategies for protection and commercialization of intellectual property, and engage in discussions surrounding emerging trends and challenges in this field. Dr. Rinni Singh, an executive, BioNEST @ CSIR-IITR participated in the workshop as a part of skill enhancement initiative of the incubator.
